A couple of months back a fellow Admin of our Local Facebook Group(G.E.N.E.) needed to sell some of his backlogs before leaving for Dubai. One of those backlogs was a semi-built Dragon Momoko(3rd party) Perfect Grade 1/60 RX-0 Unicorn Gundam.

I am not a fan of the Unicorn Gundam but it was a PG Kit and I wanted to learn what was great about this Mobile Suit Design that most of the Gundam Fans got hooked with it. The anime series was great and most of the Mobile Suits still had that Old Universal Century feels which I love by the way. So I decided to buy it from him and since we were having an Admin Build-Off due this coming August I also decided to paint the darn thing(big mistake!). I wanted to learn how many hours and how much paint a PG kit would need if I paint all of its part. Sad thing is I don't think I'll be able to finish all of it in time. But I will however try to atleast paint all the inner frame and I might leave the white armor parts as it is maybe add a little detail on each of them.
I've gathered enough photos for review on the kit while building and painting it. I will be updating this post every time I finish a part or two of the kit until I finish the whole thing.

The kit came with 2 Hyper Bazooka and Beam Cannon plus 4 pieces of Gatling Guns. I started with the weapons and attachment mainly because I get lazy after building the main kit so to ensure that i finish the whole kit I do the weapons first.

I love painting metallic specially on inner frames and weapons. As practice for gloss and smooth finishes I normally coat the kit in primer first then spray gloss black on top of it. I later on seal this with either a silver coat for a lighter shade of metallic or if I wanted to create a darker shade I spray the final color that I wanted to have for the part. Here you can see a rounded part of the gatling gun and I love curved parts because if you spray black gloss on them you get a mirror finish black that could either make or break a chrome finish. I do this even if I am going for a matte finish because the black base also creates a shadow effect on edges without doing another layer of black as pre-shade.

Here are the parts after the gloss black is sealed with silver. I have yet to get my hands on true chrome finish paint so I just use what works for me best this is just plaint silver so when I coat multiple layers over black the mirror finish is lost but a dull reflection can still be seen.

I did a couple of color separation on the weapons using silver and dark gunmetal plus some accents of gold. Since this kit is huge I wanted to try out and practice doing a burnt effect on stuff like the tip of the gatling gun and the bazooka. Multi tone burnt effect is hard to do on RG and HG kits but here the satisfaction of being able to do that is price less(wish I have a bigger space for kits).
Because of the number of part on the frame of the PG Kits a sort of color separation to create a dynamic paint effect can be achieved and I tried doing that on this build. Here you could see some metallic blue and red detail(that was a fail the silver didnt adhere properly on the polycap plastic), two shades of gold a subtle gold and yellowish gold and two tones of gunmetal.

The Stock Psycho Frame Color had a pinkish red kind of prism effect and i don't dig a pinkish psycho frame so i decided to spray it with several coats of clear red. depending on the light source you could still see a hint of the pink prism effect but on dim light situations a nice ruby red psycho frame will be what you see.
